In Mexico 7 out of 10 young people suffer from violence

Morelia, Mich.- (Carlos Erandi Rodríguez, correspondent / CIMAC) .- In the Mexican Republic, 7 out of 10 young people between 15 and 24 years of age suffer psychological, physical or sexual violence, and 3 out of 10 commit suicide why they feel excluded of society, warned Analia García García, assistant director of Bienestar y Estímulos, of the Mexican Institute of Youth.

In the 2010 State Youth Conference, García García said that Michoacán is among the 10 first states, where the juvenile suicide It is high, in ages between 15 and 18 years.

In the House of Government in this city, the federal official of the sector, commented that the violence during the courtship in the country, is presented in the following way: 6% has suffered sexual violence ; 15% have suffered physical violence; and 76% psychological violence.

Iris Mendoza Mendoza, head of the Youth Secretariat in Michoacán, mentioned that today's youth have the possibility of influencing the generation of public policies that impact on the solution of problems such as the environment, unemployment, migration, poverty, insecurity and education, to quote some items.

We live, he said, the most severe crisis in the history of Mexico and in our hands is the solution, we need to influence the generation of public politics , to solve the big problems that occur in the country, and around the world, he considered.

 

International Year of Youth

The United Nations (UN), in conjunction with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); proclaimed 2010 as the International Year of Youth from August 12, with the aim of promoting the full and effective participation of young people in all aspects of society.

For this reason, Mexico invites the next World Youth Conference 2010, in León, Guanajuato, from August 23 to 27, which will be a space for discussion and reflection on the role of young people in achieving development, added Mendoza Mendoza.

He recalled that in 1985 the International Year of Youth was proclaimed for the first time, under the motto "Participation , Development and Peace " . In this way, guidelines were given to the planning and creation of new complementary measures appropriate for youth.

This year, the motto of the forum is "Dialogue and Mutual Understanding "to promote the practice of these concepts and ideals of peace and of respect for human rights, freedoms and solidarity, stressed the state official.

In the pre-State Conference of Youth in Michoacán, the themes "Poverty and Exclusion, Employment, Education, Technology and Innovation, Health, Gender Equity, Security, Social Justice and Human Rights, Sustainable Development, International Migration, Participation and Advocacy" were addressed. , Global Partnership and Cooperation.

In his opportunity, Fidel Calderón Torreblanca, secretary of government of Michoacán, stressed that they add up seven and a half million of young people in the country who do not have the conditions to study or join the productive sector. Hence the need to promote better living conditions for this important sector of the population, which worldwide is 1,300 million people, between 12 and 24 years of age.
