Lula continues with chemotherapy treatment

The former president of Brazil,Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva , started the second session of chemotherapy at Hospital Sírio Libanés, of Sao Paulo . The doctors who are in charge of the treatment assure that laryngeal cancer who was diagnosed the agent remains located and has not registered metastasis .

Lula da Silva, 66, decided to shave his beard and hair, to anticipate the effects of the treatment of chemotherapy . His wife, Marisa Leticia , was in charge of changing the image of the former president.

According to information from the agency Xinhua , on October 29, Da Silva was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer after having undergone medical examinations at the Hospital Sirio Libanés in Sao Paulo.

The tumor , located in the glottis , was detected after the former president underwent a medical examination due to an abnormal snoring that emerged in mid-September.

The forecast is that Da Silva will undergo at least another two sessions of chemotherapy in the course of this year, and the treatment would end after they apply radiotherapy in February 2012.

According to doctors, the Cancer that the Brazilian political leader suffers is of medium aggressiveness and the possibilities of cure are of 80%.
