Health care in migrant minors is not immediate

The attention of the Health In daughters and children of migrants, it is not as immediate as the case warrants.

In the study "Migration and health. The children of Mexican immigrants in the United States ", published by the National Population Council (CONAPO), analyzes the reason why the children of Mexican migrants delay or delay their medical care .

Twelve percent of the families surveyed indicated that one of the main reasons why the health of their offspring lacks attention is due to the fact that transportation does not reach the center of attention that corresponds to them, a situation that does not happen with other ethnic groups. and for what it tops the list of reasons why the children of Mexicans delay their medical attention.

Another of the most serious, and that also makes a difference with other ethnic and racial groups, is the impossibility of making an appointment at the required time. Of the total data, the survey indicates that 6% of the total number of Mexicans living in the United States, under 18, did not receive medical care when needed because of this cause.

Timely medical attention is also delayed due to the fact that the clinic is closed during the hours in which the family and the patient can attend. A total of 3.7% of the responses in this regard are based on the study.

Finally, another of the origins of the delay in health care is due to suffering a prolonged wait in the place of medical attention. This result is not surprising, since it corresponds logically to the fact that daughters and children of Mexicans form a majority in the patients regularly seen in community health centers. The prolonged wait delayed medical attention to 3.3% of children under 18, descendants of Mexican migrants.
