More than a quarter of 18,000 motorists surveyed by the Automobile Association of the United Kingdom for a study by the BBC acknowledged that they handle shoes with those who do not feel safe in the vehicle control .

In a simulator, the braking response varied according to the footwear used.

  • 0.5 seconds with high heels
  • 0.6 with flip flops
  • 0.7 seconds with platform shoes
