Blood incompatibility detonates cerebral palsy

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS, for its acronym in English) notes that the cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder that can develop from the pregnancy and it appears in childhood; affects, permanently, the mobility of the body and muscular coordination.

One of the most common risk factors for this disorder is blood incompatibility, that is, when the Blood type ( Rh) of the mother is different from that of the baby.

This is because the immune system of the mother will not tolerate the presence of Red blood cells different from hers, so your body makes antibodies that will attack and kill the cells blood of the baby.

Among other factors are: low weight at birth, premature birth, multiple births, infections during the pregnancy , exposure to toxic substances, among others.

Know the causes of cerebral palsy

The NINDS notes that the brain damage It is not repairable and the most common causes of paralysis are:

  1. An abnormality of brain , which bursts the ability of this body to control movement and posture.
  2. The cerebral motor cortex does not develop normally during fetal growth.
  3. A injury brain, either before, during or after birth.

The symptoms of cerebral palsy they are different with respect to the type of disorder (spastic, dyskinetic, ataxic, hypotonic and mixed), as well as to the organism of each patient; however, they can be presented as newborn or before the child turns two. The most common are:

  1. Lack of muscle coordination
  2. Muscles tense and rigid
  3. Walk with one foot or drag one leg
  4. Excessive drooling or difficulty swallowing or talking
  5. Tremors

The specialists emphasize that the paralysis it is not a disease , because it is not contagious and it is not hereditary. There is no cure for this disorder, but with medications, surgery and alternative therapies, the skills of many patients can be improved.
