8 tips to prevent cancer

Science has constantly sought options to reduce the risk of disease, since in the adult there is a direct relationship with lifestyle, so there is a special interest in seeking advice to prevent cancer, and one of the keys is in nutrition

Both the American Cancer Society (American Cancer Society) as the American Institute for Cancer Research (American Institute for Cancer Research) have dietary guidelines that can help prevent neoplasia.

 

  1. Increase the consumption of fruit and vegetables daily.
  2. Incorporate grains, cereals, breads and pasta into the daily diet.
  3. Maintain a moderate consumption of red meats.
  4. Include low-fat foods in the diet.
  5. Restrict the use of salt.
  6. Achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
  7. Exercise for 30 minutes a day.
  8. Eliminate both alcoholic beverages and tobacco in the lifestyle.

For some specific cases, there are ongoing research to evaluate the positive impact that exists between some foods and their preventive effect, as is the case of soy and breast cancer.

The intake of this legume in moderate amounts is safe for women suffering from this type of cancer. Some studies have shown that its consumption can reduce the appearance of the disease in healthy women, however, it does not prevent the appearance of new outbreaks in those who have developed it.

However, it is recommended that survivors review and consult with their doctor the information that is generated to establish with regard to their diet, the precautions that should be taken.

With regard to colorectal cancer, the National Cancer Institute in the United States , says that studies have not shown that there is a reduction in the risk of development when the amount of fats, fruits and vegetables in the diet is modified.

What contrasts with findings on other types of tumors where the increase in the portions of fruits and vegetables represents a lower risk.

In addition, the way to prepare food can also be an ally in prevention, so the suggestions are:

  1. Avoid exposing the meat to flames or a hot metal surface, as well as reducing the cooking time.
  2. Pre-cook it by another method before exposing it to high temperatures to reduce times.
  3. Flip the meat frequently over the heat source.
  4. Cut the burned pieces to avoid their ingestion.

Although cancer is a multifactorial disease, it is essential to keep up with the information that is generated around this condition.
