Whooping cough, the dangers of a poorly maintained cough

The whooping cough it is a disease that can occur at any time of the year, but it is more frequent to appear in winter periods.

It generally affects adolescents and adults, who infect children under one year of age and therefore put their health at risk.

In this sense the Mexican Society of Pediatrics (SMP) indicates some symptoms of whooping cough: Cough with episodes that range between 20 and 40 seconds, cough lasts for more than two weeks and sometimes there is fever.

The whooping cough It is transmitted through respiratory secretions such as saliva, especially when coughing. In Mexico, vaccination for whooping cough is covered in 95%.

However, the SMP reiterates that it is important that in winter time and rainy season, people take precautions to prevent a simple cough from becoming complex.

The SMP reports that there are currently reinforcements vaccines of this disease, in addition to normal vaccination, to improve and strengthen the body's defenses.
