Taste that incapacitates you

Its flavor accompanies your meals, but its effect on your joints can be harmful. Sugary drinks are part of our habits, but their consumption can increase the chances of suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.

According to the Arthritis Foundation , rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common form of arthritis that causes inflammation in the lining of the joints, causing heat, reduced range of motion, swelling and pain in the joint.

RA tends to persist for many years, often affects different joints of the body and can cause damage to cartilage, bones, tendons and ligaments of the joints.

In a study performed by Yang Hu , researcher of the Harvard School of Public Health , women who drink one or more sodas a day may increase the risk of suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, according to a new study linking RA risk to sugar habit. The study does not prove cause and effect.

The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases notes that while the causes of rheumatoid arthritis are unknown, genetic and hormonal factors are considered the most likely causes and women are more likely than men to develop this inflammatory autoimmune disease.

In addition to increasing the risk of suffering from arthritis, the consumption of soda is also associated with genetic alterations that increase obesity. Remember, your health and that of yours is in your hands. Beware!
