Mental disorder related to suicidal behavior

The latest statistics available in Mexico on deaths by suicide they indicate that there were 4 thousand 388 deaths in the whole country in a year, being a rate of 4.12 suicides per 100 thousand inhabitants, according to data collected by the Mexican Institute of Youth.

Juvenile suicide in the Mexican Republic is the third cause of death in people between 15 and 29 years of age, which places it as a serious health problem since the rate has been increasing since the seventies and its increase widens in the adolescence stage.

There are 3 understood suicidal behaviors, one is the suicidal ideation (strictly speaking, something that is not proper behavior), the second is the planning to commit suicide and the third, the suicidal attempt , according to the study "Why study suicidal behavior in Mexico "Performed by Dr. Guilherme Borges.

There is no clear information about the behavior of suicide attempt failed , because it is not mandatory to report it, that is, if a young person decides to take 20 pills and survives, the parents rarely report it, so the data about the problem that could still be treated are not clear, reports the specialist's study.

The impulsive disorders and substance use disorders, were especially relevant for the Mexican population in the presence of suicidal behavior. It is observed that in adolescents and adults there is a relationship between mental disorder and suicide attempts. The greater the number of disorders, the greater the risk. In young people, the disorders associated with anxiety generalized, dysthymia (disturbed mood), conduct disorder and substance abuse, trigger this behavior.
