Influenza cost 113 million pesos in the Federal District

This April 23 is a year that the federal and capital authorities announced, that in Mexico, there is a virus that affects the respiratory tract of the human being and that if not detected early, is lethal: Virus of the Influenza AH1N1.

In this regard, the head of the Ministry of Health of the Federal District, Armando Ahued, reported that so far the number of deaths from the disease in the city is located in 211 cases.

From April 2009 to date, there have been 8 thousand 514 cases of people infected, while the entire Mexican Republic is located in 72 thousand 418 infections and 181 deaths.

 

The achievements

Armando Ahued stressed that the city's health system was strengthened by the creation of the Center for Intelligence and Preparedness of the Epidemiological Response and the Epidemiological Diagnostic Center in collaboration with the Institute of Science and Technology of the Federal District, which had a cost of more than 25 million pesos.

The official said that the vaccination campaign is about to reach 100% of the established goal. One million 189 thousand 663 people have been vaccinated in the city; the goal is one million 194 thousand 103 doses.

The epidemic of influenza in the city had a cost of 113 million pesos, according to figures provided by the Secretary at a press conference. Given the budget expense, the official insisted that Mexico City must have a special fund for this type of emergency.
