If you go around and around in bed because you can not sleep, despite having a light supper or doing everything to rest deeply, it's time to observe your bedroom, since maybe there is something in it that does not let you sleep deeply.

According to a study of Dream Institute of the University of Washington, a deep rest prevents obesity, that is, if a person sleeps deeply for eight hours, they will have a lower risk of being overweight than those who sleep less or exceed that limit.

The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) points out that the place where we sleep is vital to get adequate rest, since some distractions can alter our sleep and generate fatigue.

For your bedroom to be the temple of rest that you need so much, you just have to follow the steps below and mentalize yourself to enjoy this environment.

1. Take care of the temperature. A cool room favors a better rest and sleep. The key is to identify your body temperature and combine it with the rest of the room. A good recommendation is 20 degrees centigrade.

2. Lighting. Turn off the lights in your room an hour before you go to sleep. This will help your brain assimilate that it is time to rest. Use thick curtains to keep your room dark and allow you to sleep well.

3. Painting. Your bedroom should be a temple of rest, so choose neutral colors that you love and that generate peace and harmony.

4. Bedding. Choose sheets, bedspreads and pillows that are comfortable and that do not affect your sleep quality. Remember that your mattress should be comfortable for you to wake up with the feeling of rest and not sore.

5. Minimizes noise. While you sleep, your brain keeps recording sounds at a very basic level, which can wake you up at any time or damage your sleep quality. Try to avoid any electronic device inside your bedroom and close the windows and doors of your room to isolate it from noise.

6. Surround yourself with the essences of your liking. Smell plays an important role to rest deeply, so use it to your advantage when using essences that favor your rest like lavender. Spray your pillow or blanket with this essence and get ready to rest.

Do not forget to wash your bedding and sleep frequently, so you will feel fresher and cleaner, which favors a good rest.
