Cesarean section triggers allergies?

A study of Henry Ford Hospital , in the United States, reveals that people who are born through caesarean section are five times more likely to develop some type of allergy after two years.

According to the research presented at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Allergy , Asthma and Immunology , babies born by this method develop allergies when exposed to high levels of allergens in the home such as dust, mites or animal hairs.

The doctor Christine Cole Johnson, lead author of the study , highlights that exposure to bacteria during natural childbirth strengthens the immune system of the newborn.

"When babies are born by cesarean section, there is a risk pattern in the microorganisms present in the gastrointestinal tract, which makes them susceptible to developing an antibody called immunoglobulin E (IgE)", which is related to allergies and asthma, the specialist points out. .

To check the study financed by the Henry Ford Hospital and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases , the authors analyzed the case of a thousand 258 newborns between 2003 and 2007.

Samples of the umbilical condom, feces, blood samples from the parents, family history of allergies or asthma, breast milk, household dust, pregnancy variables, pets, baby diseases and the medications used were used. And you, are you allergic? Were you born through cesarean section?
