Bad habits preventable at 13 years

Study prepared in the autonomous community of the Basque Country, inferred that the prevention of bad habits food It must begin before the age of 13, because at 16 they are rooted.

The less healthy habits turned out to be those of feeding, followed by alcohol consumption , sedentary lifestyle, high risk sex , tobacco use, drugs and insufficient sleep or of low quality, commented Marta Arrue , who directed the investigation.

After interviewing 2 thousand 108 young people, when dividing the results by age, it was observed that the risk behaviors begin to appear in the first years of adolescence (13 years) and, with the exception of sleep habits , all others get worse as time goes on.

The researcher commented that the results showed that the risk behaviors among the young they are more common than expected, since they themselves think that the healthier than what their physical state actually shows is healthier.

The experts pointed out that bad habits (such as a sedentary lifestyle, excessive consumption of alcohol and a detrimental diet) predominate among young people between 19 and 26 years old.

According to Marta Arrue, the age of greatest importance is 16 years, since it is a stage that represents the point of reflection, it is the age where healthy activities or patterns of risk behavior are adopted.
