Peeing on the bed

Doctors know her as nocturnal enuresis , is common in most children who are between 5 and 6 years old, and it is nothing but wetting the bed. Having enuresis means involuntarily urinate at an age when this should already be controlled.

It is a normal incident during the years of training to stop using diapers, but if the child continues to wet the bed more than twice a month after 5 or 6 years, it is already considered a problem that must be treated by a doctor.

According to the World Health Organization, between 15 and 19% of Mexican children have this disorder that can seriously affect their social environment .

It affects children and is hereditary

An investigation published in the British Journal of Urology International, points out that nocturnal enuresis is much more frequent in boys than in girls and that there is also a hereditary factor, since almost 60% of children who presents it has a brother or father who has experienced the same problem .

Most mothers and fathers must understand the nature of the disorder so as not to fall into despair or anger. An intolerant father, the researchers point out, can hinder the Enuresis therapy , because he is more likely not to participate in tactics that take time, such as alarms, and also resort to the punishment of the creature.

According to the Spanish Association of Pediatrics the most important thing is not to blame or ridicule the child because he does not urinate on purpose.

In most cases there is no detectable cause to wet the bed, only in a minority is due to certain physical conditions, such as a urinary infection or diabetes.
