How do you feel after you face a complicated situation? Do you generate conflict or are you satisfied? If you chose the first one, maybe you are an egodistonic person, but what is the egodisty ?

According to the psychologist Fernando Azor, director of the Clinical and Legal Psychology Center of Madrid, details that the egodisty it's a disorder of the personality that must be diagnosed and treated on time.

This disorder personality it occurs when the thoughts, values, feelings and behaviors are in conflict with the ideals of one's own image or ego, in other words, it is the lack of harmony with the self.

 

Identify an egodistonic person!

During the First Meeting of Sexuality Ambassadors , made by Bayer Mexico , the doctorEusebio Rubio, surgeon and general director of the Mexican Association for Sexual Health (Amssac), the main characteristics presented by a person who is egodistonic are:

1. Discomfort . It generates discomfort the way you deal with a certain situation.

2. He is not aware . The person who suffers it does not usually realize this personality disorder by itself.

3. Other disorders arise . Those who suffer from egodisty have other secondary problems such as anxiety, conflicts and breakups with family and friends.

4. It needs a change . The person with this disorder feels a discomfort that borders on making an immediate change.

5. Search for well-being . When a person is egodistonic he needs to forget that feeling of discomfort and therefore he goes out in search of well-being and immediate modifications.

One way to overcome this problem with the "I" or the ego is to go with a specialist to start a psychotherapy, that is, a process to guide the person in the change and resolve the discomfort.
