Merida and Colima are the cities best qualified by their own inhabitants, who consider them the best place to live in the whole country, according to the National Quality of Life Index .

The study, prepared by Strategic Communications Cabinet (GCE ), took into account a sample of 30,400 people from 51 municipalities in the country and from the 16 delegations of the Federal District, who were surveyed by telephone.

The capital of the state of Colima jumped from the room to the first site this year, displacing the city of Queretaro, which is the third place according to the perception of its inhabitants.

Merida, capital of the state of Yucatan, went from third place to second, exchanging positions with Monterrey, Nuevo León, which this year is the fifth city with the best quality of life .

Also noteworthy is the significant improvement in some cities such as Aguascalientes, which ranked eighth in 2013 and this year ranks fourth. Durango went from place 21 to 10 in just one year, while Saltillo, in the seventh place, is the only city that stayed the same.

Among the cities whose inhabitants consider worse than before, La Paz and Mexicali stand out in Baja California, since the first one went from place five to 10 and the second from 13 to 32.

Ciudad del Carmen, in Campeche, from 22nd place last year went down to number 41, while the Federal District went from 27th to 42nd place.

Chilpancingo, Guerrero, occupies the 55th place, the last of the list; Last year it was located in 40. It is followed by two municipalities of the State of Mexico: Ecatepec and Naucalpan, in 54th and 53rd place, respectively, which were not counted in the previous year.

The GCE pollster explained that the study measures the citizen's perception in 10 variables: housing, public and private schools, mobility, cleanliness, recreation, civic coexistence, museums and historical spaces, natural beauties, quality of life compared to the rest of the country and comparison with quality of life one year earlier.
