Women die twice as much as men

Mexico is the country with the most deaths per year from cardiovascular diseases, but high cholesterol (dyslipidemia) is a disease that affects 60 million patients, mostly women.

The critical age for these cases of cholesterol that can not be controlled is at 40, the same period in which women begin with hormonal problems, such as pre-menopause, menopause or problems due to hormonal imbalances.

Women die twice as much as men

Dr. Francisco Javier León, president of the National Association of Cardiology of Mexico, explains to GetQoralHealth, that it is necessary to implement prevention strategies when the woman is in the climacteric stage (years before and after the menopause).

A woman who is at this stage of her life should consider an annual check of her cholesterol, triglycerides and glucous levels. An early evaluation should include consultation with the cardiologist, a stress test, an electro at rest.
