Laughing is an action that, in most cases, is done spontaneously or involuntarily; however, it is a facial movement that allows not only a person to be attractive or sympathetic to others, but to social interaction.
There are different types of smiles: simple, discreet, open or sincere. The most usual is in which the row of upper teeth is shown, but have you ever wondered why we teach these teeth to laugh ?
According to a study conducted by the University of Plymouth In the United Kingdom, this gesture has an evolutionary origin and works as a signal that indicates friendship and generates tranquility in those who observe it.
The research, led by the specialist Bridget Waller , discovered, after observation tests on a group of gorillas, that they have two main facial expressions linked to human laughter: the game face that involves opening the mouth a lot in a gesture that simulates the laughter, and the smile that shows teeth and implies a meaning of submission.
However, despite having roots in common, human laughter has a different behavior. The specialist indicates that people, not always laugh because they are happy, smile in the appropriate situations; example, in front of the boss.
Waller also indicates that this is the origin of what is called "social laughter", teaching the teeth, in case of a rough game, tells the classmates that it is simply a game.
Laugh At the same time that the teeth are shown, it offers a sense of security and sincerity that calms down, that is its main function, besides helping the emotional, social and professional development of the individual.
