What is COPD?

It is a progressive disease (worsens over time) that causes difficulty in breathing. The most frequent symptoms of this disease are chronic cough, shortness of breath (dyspnea) and expectoration.

 

As the disease progresses, respiratory distress increases to the degree that minimal activities require rest, "says Juan Carlos Vázquez, President of the Mexican Society of Pulmonology and Chest Surgery (SMNyCT).
