What causes agromegaly?

Exhausted , limb growth , excessive sweating , headache and large facial bones, are some of the characteristics of the agromegaly .

This disease is caused by the abnormal production of growth hormone after the normal structure of the skeleton and other organs has been completed.

In Mexico, the prevalence is 16 cases per million inhabitants. In this regard, the doctor Moisés Mercado , head of endocrinology Hospital of Specialties of the National Medical Center Siglo XXI , points out that the agromegaly It is an underdiagnosed disorder, since it happens between 7 to 10 years before the patient is detected this disease.

 

What causes agromegaly?

Although it is a rare and expensive disease, the expert in this disease states that in Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has all the instruments and medicines to treat it.
