Walking fast stops prostate cancer

Walk fast , at least for three hours a week, could be an important factor in the treatment of prostate cancer in the two years following the diagnosis of the disease in men, according to a study of theUniversity of California at San Francisco .

In this sense, for a good treatment to be carried out, it is essential that a specialist make a diagnosis in a timely manner. To know how it performs and its characteristics, the expert in prostate cancer, Carlos Pacheco , explains it in an interview with GetQoralHealth:

Published in the magazine Cancer Research, in this study it is indicated that walk fast It can be an important part of the treatment of prostate cancer because such exercise can reduce 50% the chances of tumor growth, in addition to stopping the spread of cancer cells.

After a follow-up of more than 1,300 men diagnosed with this type of cancer for more than two years, the researchers registered 117 different types of evolution; among them, the recurrence of the disease, bone tumors and deaths caused by this disease.

As part of their results, they observed that men who they walked for at least three hours a week they were much less likely to have any of those worsening symptoms. The rate of progression of the disease they recorded was 57% lower than in those who were walking at a slow pace and for less time.

Erin Richman, lead author of the study , explains that "walking with this rhythm can have an effect on the progression of cancer because it modifies the blood levels of some proteins that, as demonstrated in the laboratory, stimulate the spread of cancer cells."

Although it is still necessary to carry out another series of studies that confirm the results in different samples of men, it is known that the exercise and a better lifestyle are integral parts of the treatment of prostate cancer, highlights Helen Rippon, head of research at the Prostate Cancer Charity , in United States.
