Violence is caused by drinking too much soda

The high consumption of refreshing soft drinks among adolescents may be linked to greater aggressive behavior.

A youth poll conducted in Boston, Massachusetts , to a thousand 878 adolescents between 14 and 18 years of age from 22 public schools, indicated that the excessive consumption of soft drinks can be linked to a violent attitude .

The study published by Injury Prevention, noted that teens who drink more than five cans of soda are significantly more likely to have violent attitudes, including carrying guns and perpetrating aggressions .

According to information published by the portalexcelsior.com.mx , young people were placed in two categories: low consumption (up to four cans per week) and high consumption (more than five cans a day).

The third part of the respondents was in the category of high consumption, who were asked about recent behaviors or violent attitudes with colleagues or relatives and if they carried a knife or a gun.

These attitudes were evaluated together with other factors that could influence the results, such as gender , consume of alcohol , of tobacco , or the hours of dream .

23% of those who drank one or none of these refreshments they replied that they carried weapons on a regular basis, while the figure increased to 43% in those who drank more than 14 cans a week.

The proportion of those who had violent behavior with peers it rose 15% in those who barely drank carbonated soft drinks to 27% in those who drank 14 or more soft drinks.

For this reason, the researchers said that adolescents who are high consumers of these types of drinks have between 9% and 15% more likely to unleash aggressive behaviors .

The study pointed out that there may be a direct relationship cause effect due to the content of sugar or caffeine in these beverages, although there may be other factors (not yet analyzed) that cause high consumption of gaseous sodas and aggression .
