Currently, injuries that seem carcinogenic are studied with biopsy . Many of these turn out not to be malignant.

If the machine detects Cancer , the doctor can proceed with the biopsy , but if the machine finds that the injury is not carcinogenic , the patient does not have to undergo an unnecessary biopsy.

The manufacturer of the device performed the largest prospective study in the history of detention of melanoma to show that MelaFind has greater precision when identifying melanomas early that the rate registered by doctors in clinical literature.

According to the American Cancer Society , an American dies every hour of melanoma and the number of cases is growing fastest among young women. Therefore, early detection is key.
