They detect radiation in milk formula

Radioactive contamination, from the nuclear plant damaged in Japan, was detected in formula milk for babies, the most recent finding of a chain of contaminated food in the Asian country.

According to information published by excelsior.com.mx , the manufacturer Meiji Co. withdrew from the market on Tuesday milk in canned powder with expiration dates of October 2012.

However, the company reported that the levels of cesium radioactive detected in the product were so low that they would not affect health.

Meanwhile, experts say that children are more at risk than adults from contracting Cancer and others diseases by exposure to radiation .

It is the first time that radioactive cesium has been detected in this type of food since the accident at the Fukushima plant, according to the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

In addition the Ministry itself plans to establish a lower limit for food products intended for babies, more vulnerable than adults to the harmful effects of radioactive materials.
