Given that it is a relatively new phenomenon, epidemiological studies are needed to confirm the actual number of people affected by the techno-stress; however, it is estimated that up to 25% of the population faces it day by day. The first symptom are from psychological order , restlessness, sudden changes of character, irritability, anguish and isolation. This, say the specialists, causes conflicts with coworkers, bosses and even the family.

The techno-stress is also linked with the so-called Burnout syndrome or of exhaustion, by the professional wear that implies the continuous, daily and abundant use of the computer science. The situation is aggravated when patients present physical discomforts such as insomnia, compulsive eating or loss of appetite, and headaches, back or joints.
