Seborrheic dermatitis appears in the first month of life

Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin disorder with erythematosquamous lesions, that is, reddened and scaly skin. Its evolution is chronic and recurrent. Although its cause is unknown, there may be factors genetic , infectious , hormonal , dietetics , environmental Y emotional .

 

Signs of its appearance

In the case of newborns, oily skin is present in seborrheic areas such as head Y face , by an abnormal growth of the sebaceous glands determined to a hormonal influence that obtained from the mother during the gestation.

During the first 3 months of life it manifests with the presence of oil plates , scaly on the scalp , back of nose and middle part of chest , progressively it can affect the forehead, eyebrows and eyelashes, folds behind the ears, in the genitals, the perianal region and sometimes it can be generalized to the whole body. The scales are white-yellowish, adherent, oily, round or oval in shape and of variable size.

There are no symptoms and in some cases the pruritus (itching) is very light . In a few months there is a tendency to spontaneous disappearance.

In children there is a total cure, however, in adults come to appear pictures by outbreaks where the condition disappears but returns and sometimes with worsening of the injuries.

It is not contagious and although it can not be prevented, it is possible to control it .
