Only 15% of pets (dogs and cats) in Mexico are dewormed; the rest, whether company or not, lack this, which triggers various infections and diseases in both animals and humans.

About, Pablo Martínez Labat , veterinarian zootechnician of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), points out:

"The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (OPS) recognize that the dog is responsible for 30% of the diseases transmitted by animals to man. Therefore, procuring the health of pets will affect the quality of life of the human being. "

In this sense, Labat said that the prevention measures are very simple; it is enough to deworm them twice a year, since they depend on the owners, so it is essential that they have their vaccinations up to date and that they bathe at least every 15 days:

"Another elementary aspect is that the owners must have the culture of checking their pets before and after going outside; it does not matter if it is to a park or outside the D.F; fleas and ticks are dormant in every corner. "

For his part, the doctor Román Álvarez , manager of the pet division of Merial, said: "This program seeks to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of pets and their impact on human health."

"Through Protected Pet the integral care of the pets is motivated through useful information about the different conditions and the therapeutic options to combat them "...

"Among which are included: external antiparasitics (Frontline ), vaccines against rabies (Imrab ) and to prevent deadly diseases such as distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, coronavirus and canine leptospirosis (Recombitek ) and deworming (Cardomec) ”.

How do you protect your pet? They depend on you. Remember that parasites kill their organs, reduce their quality of life and live fewer years. Take care of them! And protect your health, your family's and yours.
