Rhythms and times of suckling

The arrival home with the newborn It is an adventure. What happens when the first-time mother has doubts about how to breastfeed her baby? schedules ?, and how should it be done?

The first thing is to let the newborn establish his own rhythm of feeding , which usually varies between 3 and 4 hours.

At first you can observe some irregularity in the times between tetadas and the duration of them, arriving to feed from 6 to 9 times in the first 24 hours and the durations oscillate between 10 and 30 minutes.

In the first 8 weeks the newborn will want to eat between 2 and 3 in the morning, and here it is not recommended to replace the teat with a bottle of warm water or tea.

To protect the nipple, in the first days that milk is very scarce, it is recommended to feed for a maximum of 5 minutes.

Time later when there is more milk, the tetada regularly lasts 20 to 30 minutes, interspersed both breasts and always starting with the breast that was offered in the last term in the previous tetada.
