Reasons to have an eye exam

Lately you've noticed that it's hard for you to see far or near and you do not know why; It is possible that you have some vision problem. How can you detect it? To know if you have any problem it is important to realize a vision test .

The vision test , is a routine test that you must perform to detect if you have any vision problem such as myopia or astigmatism and to know if, because of this, you need to use graduated lenses.

The table with which the test is performed, is called Snellen and it has several lines of letters of different sizes, bigger up and smaller as they go down.

To do this test you must place yourself 4 or 6 meters away from the table of Snellen and, once in that position, you will have to read the letters by row, without glasses or contact lenses (in case you use them), and then covering one eye and then the other.

The amount of letters you detect in this test determines the state of your vision. It is considered that the greater the number of lines identified, the greater your visual acuity.

If after the eye exam some difficulty in the vision is detected, the oculist or the ophthalmologist, can place glasses with different magnifications, to determine how much increase the glasses or the lenses that you need must have.
