Puberty starts earlier

Studies conducted in Denmark indicate that more girls, who are still studying in schools primary they begin before the stage of development called puberty.

The researchers involved found that the breast development , today begins a year earlier on average than it started 20 years ago, to be more precise at the age of 9 years and ten months. This is a significant change within the cultural context, since only a century ago, the average age to reach this stage was 15 years.

Dr. Anders Juul, from Hospital of the University of Copenhagen , and director of the research comments that if the girls begin to mature earlier, they will also begin to have the problems that adolescents face at a younger age, which leads to the probability of contracting diseases later on. Some of the diseases mentioned in the article published by Daily Mail Reporter, include the risk of breast cancer and heart failure due to increased exposure to estrogen.

Scientists believe that it may be due to change in diet s and lack of physical activity, which is causing the changes, but indicate that there is a high concern, since the problems associated with psychological behavior also have repercussions that are difficult to handle at such a small age.

Many choirs from schools around the world report decreases in their activities in children aged 12 and 13 due to voice changes.

Currently, a chemical found in cans and bottles that could be an important factor in this problem is being investigated, although at present there is no scientific evidence to prove this relationship.
