Pros and cons of dermabrasion

To reverse the passage of time, many people resort to beauty or skin rejuvenation procedures such as dermabrasion, but how safe are these methods?

Dermabrasion is a skin rejuvenation procedure that uses a device that quickly rotates on the outer layers of the skin to remove dead layers and show off a smoother, younger epidermis.

Dermabrasion reduces the appearance of fine facial lines and improves the appearance of scars, such as those caused by acne. It can even be done alone or in combination with other cosmetic procedures.

Pros and cons of dermabrasion

Dermabrasion can be used to treat or eliminate:

  1. Scars caused by acne, surgeries or injuries
  2. Fine wrinkles, especially those around the mouth
  3. Skin damaged by the sun, including age spots
  4. Tattoos
  5. Match the tone of the skin
  6. Reduce inflammation and redness of the nose (rhinophyma)
  7. Reduce actinic keratosis

However, this procedure of skin rejuvenation can cause several side effects, such as:

  1. Redness and inflammation
  2. Bleeding
  3. Acne
  4. Enlargement of pores
  5. Changes in skin color
  6. Bacterial infection
  7. Scars

After the dermabrasion, your new skin will be delicate pink and bright. The swelling will begin to subside shortly after a week, but may last longer. The pink color of the skin will probably take about three months to disappear.

Once the treated area begins to heal, you will notice that your skin looks softer. Protect it from the sun to avoid permanent changes in skin color.

Keep in mind that dermabrasion results are not permanent, as new lines of expression will continue to grow as you get older. And you, would you submit to a skin rejuvenation treatment?
