Poor skin barrier promotes the development of bacteria!

Caring for a baby's skin with appropriate products can prevent the presence of skin diseases more common in children, as they protect the natural skin barrier.

In an interview for GetQoralHealth, Dr. Rosa María Ponce Olivera, head of the dermatology service at the General Hospital of Mexico , points out that the four most common skin diseases in babies and children are:

  1. Atopic dermatitis. It is an allergic reaction to the skin that occurs in the form of inflammation, redness. It can be caused by various factors such as allergies, dry skin and stress.
  2. Keratosis pillar. It is very similar to goose bumps. Keratin forms hard plugs inside the hair follicles.
  3. Pityriasis alba or jiotes. White spots on face or body induced by sun exposure.
  4. Xerosis It is about the extreme dryness of the skin, gives a rough appearance, with scales.

Poor skin barrier promotes the development of bacteria!

The dermatologist Rosa Maria Ponce explains that between 30 and 60% of children suffer from atopic dermatitis at any time of their lives and it usually occurs in skins that have poor barrier protection.

"When the skin dries and falls off easily, there may be diseases such as fungi, over infection, stronger dermatitis," says the specialist.

Dermo-cosmetic products, key to preventing them

To prevent the appearance of these skin diseases more common in children, specialists recommend strengthening that skin barrier with dermo-cosmetic products, ie creams without aroma and natural components free of parabens.

In addition, the dermo-cleansers help to cleanse the skin without removing the protective barrier of the skin, as well as the use of the photoresist to reduce the impact of ultraviolet rays on the epidermis. And you, how do you take care of your baby's skin?
