The technological devices, cell phones, tablets or computers, are important for children and young people, so they want to enjoy them until the last moment of the day; however, the effects of its use can even be reflected in the quality of sleep.

Therefore, it is important to know the risks involved in not having control over their use, especially when they are used before bedtime, as there is a close relationship with the fact of suffering from insomnia and poor sleep quality. .

Only 20% deep sleep

Dr. Reyes Haro, director of the Sleep Clinic of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), explains that this is because "the smaller these technological devices are, they emit more powerful lights and sounds that stimulate the brain, which understands that it is still day and must remain alert.

This explains why we can spend long hours in front of them without feeling the need to rest, and that is how each time the sleep periods are shortened, with the consequences of not procuring that it is restorative ".

The phases of sleep are disrupted and it is common to stay for longer periods of light sleep, so it is easy to wake up with any sound or situation that disturbs you.

In this sense, Dr. Reyes Haro, states that this phase occupies 60% of the total sleep, but that increases 20%, if before going to bed was interacting with a technological device, whether games, surfing the Internet, etc., so that the time available to enjoy a deep sleep is only 20%.
