Obligatory use of nutritional labels

The Mexican Council of the Consumer Products Industry (ConMéxico) reported that 16 of its affiliated companies will start, as of 2011, the application of a labeled with nutritional information on the front of each of its products in the market. The reason is that in February 2009 a decree was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, in which the government established the new conditions of the labeled , and opened a period of 270 days for companies to comply with the regulation. Firms such as Grupo Alpura, Barcel, Bimbo, Coca-Cola de Mexico, Gamesa-Quaker, Jugos del Valle, Kellogg Company Mexico, Conservas La Costeña, Grupo Industrial Lala, Grupo MacMa, Nestlé Mexico and Pepsico de México, among others, participate in The initiative. Through a press release, ConMéxico indicates: "This labeling aims to facilitate the consumer's understanding of the information on the nutritional composition of food and non-alcoholic beverages ".  

As of 2011

According to the report, the Czech Project and Choose, Keys of Nutrition will begin to be applied as of January 2011. This agency represents the 42 most important consumer products companies in the country, which in sum complement a portfolio of more than 700 brands, which encompass more than 2,500 personal, household and alcoholic beverage products.
