Nutrition in patients with HIV

In this sense, the National Center for the Prevention of HIV - AIDS (Censida ) indicates that patients with HIV can lead a normal life as long as they are disciplined in their therapies and maintain an adequate body mass, depending on the complexion and age of the patients.

The Censida recommends that patients with HIV virus Ingest a sufficient amount of proteins, minerals, fruits, vegetables and fats, for the construction, repair of cells, tissues and the favorable functioning of the immune system.

According to the WHO , a balanced diet is essential to obtain optimal benefits in the administration of antiretroviral treatment. This allows to prolong the life of people infected by the HIV and prevent the transmission of the virus from the mother to the child.
