Never leave without checking it!

To improve your mood, prevent obesity and feel more energetic, you just have to get on the bike , but first, you should check some things on your bike to make sure it is safe.

According to researchers from the University of East Anglia , use the bike to go to work improves your mental well-being, that is, helps you to concentrate better. However, it is important that you give maintenance to avoid worries.

Never leave without checking it!

The Secretary of the Environment of the Federal District (Sedema) recommends that you review the following points, before using your bicycle, to reduce the risk of suffering an accident or damage during your ride.

1. Tires

Check the air pressure in the tires (amount of weight you have to apply to deform the floor of these). The general measure is 35 pounds per square inch (P.S.I.) and 65 P.S.I maximum.

If the pressure goes down in hours or days, you may have a leak or a puncture. If so, take it to the mechanic. Take care that the tires are not cracked, dry or worn, this is very unsafe. The tires should roll freely without noise.

2. Axes (front, rear and center)

Take the handlebar with one hand and the front tire with the other; Move it from right to left, if it moves even a few millimeters, it means something is wrong. Do the same with the back.

For the axis of the center you must corroborate that the "star", which is where the pedals go, do not move any millimeter to the right or left, otherwise, you must take it to the mechanic.

3. Wheel centering and leveling

Lift your bike a little and turn a wheel, check that it does not make contact with the brake tires. If you move from side to side while turning, then you have a leveling problem.

If the problem is centered, you will notice an up and down movement when rolling.

4. Brakes

Press the levers and see that they return quickly to their original position; if they take, you have a problem with the pressure of the screws, the springs, the cables or the covers.

5. Changes

The lever that controls the changes should work smoothly, that is, it should not feel heavy. It must be tested when you pedal, otherwise it may be damaged.

6. Seat and handlebar

They should not have any movement, because these two components are those that support your body on the bike.

It will only take a few minutes to check your bike, and at the same time you protect yourself from accidents and problems on the road. Take it every three months to a professional service.
