Natural poison ...

With vegetables, poblano style, in tomato ... rice is an essential part of Mexican gastronomy, and why not, of the world. However, the traditional way in which it is cooked could cause damage to our health, specifically cancer.

At least that is what a study carried out in the Queen's University of Belfast, Northern Ireland, where Andrew Meharg (leader of the research) was given the task of comparing three methods of cooking rice in relation to its ability to lower arsenic levels of it.

Natural poison ...

How did arsenic reach rice? Although we do not believe it, this metalloid is found in the soil naturally (it is an element of the earth's crust), according to data from the World Health Organization. Although their levels in this cereal can vary by man action: use of pesticides.

While this poison is also present in other foods, and are not harmful to health. In the case of rice could be cause of cancer, this by the way it is prepared.
