Myths surrounding contagion

Fumigation and hygiene campaigns to prevent the proliferation of dengue in Mexico will be insufficient if people do not collaborate in prevention measures to reduce the incidence of this virus .

This was revealed in an interview to GetQoralHealth , Juan Santiago Salas , academic researcher National Polytechnic Institute (IPN):

"If people are part of this, it could even not require insecticides, since when using mosquito nets, fresh clothes such as pants, blouses and long-sleeved shirts, you can avoid the mosquito picket."

In this sense, Santiago Salas reiterated that the most important thing is not to have containers where water can accumulate, since that contaminated water is what gives life to the mosquito Aedes aegypti.

Even items such as pots, containers and especially the useless tires that we find everywhere are a source of infection because when water is stored in them, this kind of mosquitoes reproduce quickly:

"For example, if there are high temperatures or a lot of rain and there are containers where water accumulates there is a risk, but this does not happen if there are well-closed water tanks."

Myths surrounding contagion

The IPN teacher also clarifies that the only form of contagion is that the mosquito bites directly at the person, since there is no risk in living with a person who has dengue :

"The blood transfusion it would be the only mechanism for one person to infect another directly. The chances of this happening are practically zero. "

In this way it is reiterated that the mosquito is really the only one that can transmit them the virus to the individuals.

While the susceptibility of children, adolescents or adults to develop the dengue It is the same: "At all ages there are risks, only children and adolescents who develop it more because they lack protection from antibodies".
