Make decisions with a full bladder

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Twente (Netherlands) and published in the journal Psychological Science, ensures that the Humans they make better decisions when they have the full bladder .

Mirjam Tuk , co-author of the study, ensures that while controlling the urgent need to go to the bathroom, it improves globally the mechanism of self-control of the brain, which helps people to take the best option when they have a dilemma.

Tuk and his colleagues Debra Trampe (University of Groningen), and Luk Warlop (Catholic University of Leuven), experimented with several subjects who drank 5 cups of water or took sips of 5 separate cups. After 40 minutes, the approximate amount of time it takes the water to reach the bladder, researchers they measured self-control of the participants, to whom 8 options were offered, each of which gave the choice between a small immediate reward and a larger one but in the long term. The researchers showed that people with full bladder used to opt for long-term rewards, which were the most beneficial.

"We choose better with a full bladder," concluded Tuk, who recommends drinking a bottle of water before making the decisions we consider important.
