Limitations and risks of homeopathy

Since its creation, homeopathy has become one of the most popular alternative medicines. Homeopathy works according to the principle "Law of the like", which means simply that what causes the disease could also be the source of the cure.

Homeopathic patients are exposed to substances that create or mimic the symptoms of the disease. Over time, it would happen that it would strengthen the patient's immune system.

There are studies that show that there are patients who have responded well with an eventual reduction of their diseases using homeopathy. For example, there was a survey conducted by Medscape, which shows that of the interviewees, 38.4% of adults and 41.8% of children are satisfied with their homeopathic treatments, and have experienced the relief of their conditions.

However, homeopathy is not a magic cure. Like any other field of medicine, it has its limitations.

There are medical conditions that do not respond well with homeopathic medicines especially those that need surgery. It is important to reiterate that homeopaths are not against surgical procedure, since they are also doctors and understand the importance of surgery.

The conditions caused by nutritional deficiencies can not be solved by homeopathy. In addition, there are conditions that an individual may experience due to the way of life, such as exposure to harmful substances that cause the disease. A change of diet and lifestyle are the right solutions for those problems.

The limits of homeopathy

There are some cases when the patient does not respond to treatment. Although the symptoms are evident, there are certain cases when a patient does not show a decrease in symptoms. Identifying what type of treatment would be ideal for the patient usually takes a long time.

Another disadvantage is the lack of homeopaths and facilities where homeopathic treatments can be administered. Some patients have difficulty finding a homeopathic doctor, there are even other patients who could not get homeopathic treatments just because their doctor died, retired or moved to another city. This shows that some can not find good homeopaths or reputable ones.

On the technical side, insurance companies do not cover homeopathy treatments. This is another reason why some people go to hospitals to receive conventional treatment that can be covered by insurance

Given these limitations, the patient and his family must be prepared for anything that happens with the treatment. If the patient does not respond or the symptoms are recurrent, most homeopaths recommend that another opinion be sought.

In homeopathy, it is important to realize that there are limits. Not all diseases can be cured by this alternative treatment. The good thing is that homeopaths in the United States. They are also medical professionals, able to define when conventional medicine should replace the alternative.
