Legalization of drugs in Mexico

Mexican authorities declare that the war against the drug in Mexico , and that is why it is urgent to redefine the strategy to combat drug trafficking . The legalization of drug in the country would be a new alternative to eradicate this problem of Health that affects more and more people.

The government has begun to evaluate the decriminalization of drug , especially the marijuana and strengthen treatments to combat addictions .

The Latin American Commission on Drugs and Democracy suggests that in the face of the failure of prohibitionist policies, the legalization of drug , since not doing so, could have a high cost to society as happened in Colombia .

Specialists in the subject mention that Mexico has become the epicenter of the violent activity of the criminal groups of the drug trafficking and that the long-term solution to the problem of drug illicit goes through the reduction of demand on consumers.

Latin America is the world's largest exporter of cocaine Y marijuana , a growing producer of opium Y heroin and it starts in synthetic drugs . The Commission proposes to deal with this problem, to deal with the consumption of drug as a problem of public health , reduce consumption with information and prevention and focus the repression on organized crime.
