It's not indigestion!

It is true that chest pain is generally the most common symptom of a heart attack; However, some people suffer without this symptom, and in particular women, who have other symptoms and an increased risk of death due to lack of attention or warning.

According to Dr. Gerardo Rodríguez Diez, member of the Mexican Society of Electrophysiology and Cardiac Stimulation , women are at higher risk of heart attack after 50 years, largely due to the reduction in estrogen levels when menopause occurs, as well as the bad habits that trigger obesity and diabetes.

It's not indigestion!

Many women who suffer a heart attack do not know it, due to the difference of traditional symptoms or the ones noticed in men, even for the absence of these in some cases.

According to the specialists of the Texas Heart Institute , women usually feel burning in the upper abdomen and may have dizziness, upset stomach and sweating. The constant discomfort similar to indigestion is usually considered as something common, when in fact they should take some measures to try to prevent heart complications.

In fact, one of the recommendations addressed to women, from the American Heart Association, is that if this type of discomfort occurs (indigestion, burning or heartburn) for more than 5 minutes, combined with dizziness, shortness of breath, sweating cold, weakness, and risk factors such as obesity, smoking, and / or diabetes, emergency services should be notified immediately to warn about the possibility of a heart attack.

It is worth mentioning that cardiovascular disease is the main cause of women over 25 years. It is estimated that twice as many women die due to a heart attack, than those dying from cancer, both in the United States and in Latin America, figures that rise even higher due to the high rates of overweight and obesity.
