Intelligence is inherited or acquired?

There is a direct relationship between the IQ and the order of birth between brothers of the same family, explains a study of the University of Oslo and Tor Bjerkedal in Norway , so researchers have observed that older siblings are more smart with respect to minors

According to the research published in the journal Science, the brothers older are more smart because they presented a higher IQ among the study participants. According to the results they had a coefficient of 103.2, while the second brother 100.4; while the third would have almost the same as the second with a 99.

Intelligence is inherited or acquired?

Previously, a study of Bernard Devlin, psychiatrist at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine , reveals that genes only explain 48% of the intelligence quotient of one person, while the remaining 52% is the result of prenatal care, the environment and education.

The study carried out within the Norwegian armed forces establishes that the order of birth is not the key to all this, since it is enough that the brother smart I have exercised as an older brother even though biologically he is not.

However, it should be noted that this is only a generality and average, because there are exceptions to the rule with brothers minors more smart than the elderly.

In this sense, other research highlights that, to a large extent, the brothers older people are smarter because they have to act as tutors for the little ones, so this function or task would make their intelligence quotient upgrade to.
