One of the most common sleep disorders is the insomnia . According to the IMSS, more than 15 million people suffer from insomnia in Mexico, a factor that affects the labor or school productivity of those who suffer from it.

The main symptoms are irritability, lack of concentration, difficulty to memorize and even depression. It is estimated that at least 30% of the adult population worldwide, between 18 and 60 years of age, suffer from insomnia .

 

Possible causes...

According to IMSS specialists, people who suffer insomnia they should know that this is the reflection of some physical or emotional discomfort, which may be temporary or not.

In this sense, the health institution clarifies that if the insomnia persists and lasts more than a month, it is necessary that they go to a specialist and avoid self-medication, since it will only delay the diagnosis and treatment of the patient.

Dr. José Luis Jiménez, head of the Psychiatry and Psychology Service of La Raza Hospital, reported that some common factors of insomnia are: having a TV set inside, listening to music, talking, thinking about problems of daily life; consume a lot of coffee or alcoholic beverages, smoke and exercise a lot at night.

"All these elements harm the rest of a person; People do not relax and therefore do not sleep comfortably and naturally. Individuals should be treated, as it is very dangerous not to sleep; it can cause, even death. "
