Increase intelligence with training

We've heard about training the brain and how it can curb the effects of dementia and other problems. Would it be possible to increase our intelligence by brain training ?

Research conducted by the University of Rochester in New York showed that those who practice video games were able to process visual information faster than non-players by 30%. Through this study, researchers are already using games for the rehabilitation of patients with visual impairments.

Video game manufacturers have been interested in games for the brain. In May 2005, the Nintendo Brain Age debuted in Japan, which reached an initial sale of 43,000 copies that finally reached millions after its international launch.

A study conducted at the University of Bern, Switzerland showed that fluid intelligence can be improved through different games and brain exercises. Intelligence refers to how people deal with different situations and problems that are new to them. Fluid intelligence is different from the knowledge and skills acquired, such as vocabulary and mathematics.

The head of the research, Martin Buschkuehl, mentioned that it is possible to improve the results of the IQ test if these tests are applied frequently. However, it does not mean that there is significant development in the brain, by itself. In Buschkuehl's research, respondents were trained in an image - auditory memory examination.

The subjects were initially tested using the German Bochum Matrizen test, where they obtained an average of 10. After 19 days from 25 minutes of training per day, they were able to improve their average to 14.7, a 40% increase in your initial score
