In motion the pediatric hemato-oncology unit

The General Hospital of Mexico (HGM), launched the Hemato-oncology unit Pediatric , which was remodeled with a donation of 4.5 million pesos granted by the Telethon Foundation, and which will benefit nearly 500 children suffering from some type of Cancer and that are taken care of in that institution.

The ceremony held at the "Abraham Ayala González" Auditorium of the HGM, was headed by the General Director of the HGM, Francisco Navarro Reynoso and Fernando Landeros Verdugo, President of Telethon Foundation , as well as of diverse members of the patronage of that philanthropic institution.

The General Director of the HGM, Francisco Navarro Reynoso, acknowledged the Telethon Foundation for his unparalleled selfless work that he carries out in a spirit of solidarity for the promotion and development of projects for the benefit of the population most needed in the country.

The remodeled area, he said, will allow dignified care to pediatric patients with cancer, as it will contribute to Improve Life Quality , with that, that institution fulfills one of its fundamental objectives that is to take care of and protect the health of the most vulnerable population.

He mentioned that during more than 100 years of existence of that hospital, they have provided medical services in 34 specialties. Each year the institution provides more than one million medical actions, including consultations, hospital discharges, surgical interventions and rehabilitation sessions.

He indicated that with these new facilities the hospital will be able to expand its coverage and thereby reach more than one million annual consultations .

He noted that the first tower, which corresponds to oncology, will be ready by December of this year and it is expected that the entire project will conclude in 2013.

In a symbolic way, the President of Fundación Teletón, gave the girl Alejandra, oncological patient of the hospital, the key that opens the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Unit, where More than 500 children will receive quality care .

Finally, the general director HGM, Francisco Navarro Reynoso and Fernando Landeros Verdugo, unveiled the commemorative plaque of this act.

The ceremony was also attended by Francisco Vázquez Ramos; Eduardo Ricalde Medina; Juan Miguel Galindo López; Francisco González Martínez and Guadalupe del Pilar Picapuerto, all of them members of the Teletón Foundation Board.
