In many countries of the world, the working gym it is a tool for the prevention of accidents or injuries at work that is taking on a huge dimension in the series of risks to which the personnel are subjected, ranging from the stress , the fatigue or the lack of incentives, to various pathologies derived from muscle or joint injuries caused by repetitive efforts due to workload.

Promotion of work gymnastics in Mexico

In this sense, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) carries out a program called "Working gym" in different delegations in the north of the country and in coordination with some border companies.

According to the IMSS, the results have been excellent. Regarding the topic, Professor Fernando Valdez, instructor of the Institute's Social Security Center, said:

"It is enough to suspend for five minutes the workday to perform physical activation and muscle relaxation exercises recommended by instructors of the institute. These train monitors in the production lines of companies, who in turn guide their colleagues to complement the dynamics of physical activation.

How does it work?

Valdez indicates that the working gym , consists of a set of physical activation routines that the staff executes at the rhythm of the music in synchronized form and its maximum duration is five minutes, "the participation of the worker is voluntary; his decision to do it or not is respected. "

Routines are supported by exercises muscle relaxation , joint flexion , stretches , Aerobic-type movements and other actions that help reduce back pain, hands, feet and fight the stress .

In the opinion of some employees and employees who have used this technique, the application of gymnastics within their working hours, allows them to develop a good mood and perform their tasks better. The benefits are extraordinary.
