Impact of polluted air on health

How often do you open the windows of your home or work? Good ventilation helps you maintain a stable state of health, because you reduce the presence of bacteria that form in closed environments.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the United States, within the home and work different types of pollutants are generated by the accumulation of chemicals, gases, living organisms such as fungi and pests.

Even the ventilation systems that are installed in homes, offices and hospitals favor the development of bacteria and microbes that detonate diseases among humans, as explained by the ecologist Jessica Green, professor at the University of Oregon:

Impact of polluted air on health

The emissions of chimneys, stoves, cigars, cleaning products and construction materials generate environmental pollution, which is eliminated when the windows are opened, but what other reasons are there for good ventilation?

1. You prevent lung cancer. Radon is a radioactive gas that can enter closed environments through cracks or openings in floors and walls. This element is the main cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.

2. Avoid respiratory infections. Having proper ventilation reduces the accumulation of tobacco smoke, cancer trigger, ear infections, respiratory diseases.

3. Reduce discomforts. The gases that are produced by water heaters, dryers, fireplaces and stoves (carbon monoxide or nitrogen dioxide) cause headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea, irritation in eyes, nose and throat, difficulty in breathing or death . Avoid it when opening the windows!

4. You take care of your body. Volatile chemicals, which emit paints, lacquers, pesticides, cleaning products, office equipment and dry cleaning, generate eye irritation, damage to the liver, kidneys and the central nervous system.

5. You reduce the presence of asthma. The detonators of this disease are mold, dust mites, smoke and animal hairs, so when you ventilate the rooms you will reduce the presence of these.

Remember that increasing the entry of fresh air through the opening of windows and doors in your rooms will reduce the presence of pollutants.

If you have air conditioning, change filters regularly to catch the dust and give them proper maintenance. And you, do you correct ventilation of your home and work?
