Concern about gaining weight, overeating or losing control over what is swallowed are the main concerns of adolescents who are at risk of developing an eating disorder such as anorexy .

Identify the types of anorexia

Eating disorders such as anorexy nervous are a public health problem because they cause emotional and physical alterations that can end the lives of people who suffer them.

To avoid these complications, the National Eating Desorders (NEDA) explains the types of anorexy to identify them in time and that the patients take an adequate integral treatment.

Restrictive anorexia

It is the most frequent. People who suffer from it lose weight with very restrictive diets, that is, they do prolonged fasting, practice excessive exercise.

Also restrict the consumption of calories, so they become obsessive in counting them. They consume only one food a day.

Compulsive anorexia

Patients have binge-eating and purging, that is, they consume many foods in a meal and then use laxatives, diuretics or vomiting to eliminate what is ingested.

They have no control over their impulses and are more prone to emotional ups and downs.

Regardless of the type of anorexy , most patients have a distorted image of themselves, a self-assessment based on their weight and appearance, low self-esteem, mood swings, depression and isolation.

To avoid eating disorders it is important that you accept yourself as you are and love yourself unconditionally; only then will you enjoy good health and quality of life.
