How can you set goals in your life?

Does your life have no meaning or do you just not know what to do with it? Within our existence there is a wide range of possibilities; however, these are not useful if you do not have specific objectives, but how can you set goals and find your way?

According to Coach and Master in Project Management of Information Technology, Luis Antonio Chacón, a goal is the end to which our actions or desires are directed, what is present to achieve.

 

How can you set goals in your life?

To achieve this you can use the SMART method, named for its acronym in English: Specifit, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely. This is constituted by the following process:

1. It was specified. Set yourself one or three goals that you would like to achieve. These have to be concrete, detail very well what you want to achieve.

2. Your goal has to be measurable. That is, you have to be quantifiable, because if it is something you do not know how, how will you know that you have reached your goal?

3. Achievable. It's good to dream, but it's better to be realistic. However, your goal should be ambitious and possible. The advisable thing is that you consider some steps that you can carry out little by little until reaching your goals, look at it as climbing a ladder; step by step you will reach your goals.

4. Be realistic. Think deeply about what your values ​​are and why you want to achieve that goal, but above all, also analyze what resources you will have available to reach that end.

5. Time It is vital that you set a clear date to your final goal, while you mark small spaces in time, knowing what the final time limit is, that is, if your goal is to achieve something in a year, you know that you have spaces of months, weeks and days to carry out small actions that will take you to your goal.

Setting goals can not only help you rearrange your life and make it clearer, it also affects your levels of happiness. Biologically we are designed to feel happier if we have control over our actions and decisions in life. So, why not start setting goals right now?
